The Peridot & Pearls Butterfly Necklace Design Idea
This design features Swarovski pearls, peridot Majestic crystal beads, glass beads and silver plated findings. This necklace is the perfect match to the Peridot & Pearls Bracelet and Earrings . The necklace measures 17.5 inches when finished.
For help with Creating a Simple Loop with an Eye Pin, please view our video tutorial or read the text at:
First, take the ‘bar section’ of the Antique Rhodium Butterfly Clasp Set (T-RA-6097), and to the small loop attach one of the Silver Plated 5mm Open Jump Rings (231105).
Now we’re going to create a series of ‘bead links.’ using various beads and Eye Pins, and then creating Simple Loops.
For the first bead link, take three (3) of the Swarovski 8mm Cream Crystal Pearls (SW5810-8-CM) and slide them onto one of the Silver Plated 1 1/2 Inch Eye Pins (231204).
Now create a Simple Loop with the section of Eye Pin that extends from the last Swarovski Crystal Pearl:
Bend the Eye Pin at a 90 degree angle, making sure the bend is right on top of the last bead. Try not to leave any "play" between the bend and the last bead.
Trim the excess wire of the Eye Pin to approximately 1/2". After some experimenting for loop size, you can adjust this length slightly for smaller or larger loops.
Using round nose pliers, grip the wire at the very end, not too far up the jaw of the plier making sure the end of the wire does not stick out beyond the jaw of the plier. After some practice, you begin to know exactly where to place the wire in the jaw of the plier to achieve the loop size you desire.
Hold the beads firmly with your fingers and roll the wire away from you and toward the bead. Make sure you hold the bead tightly as to keep the angle and shape of the loop.
When you reach the point of being unable to roll your wrist any farther, without removing the plier from the loop, simply loosen your grip slightly and reposition the plier by rotating it back toward you. Grip the wire and continue to roll away from you until the end of the wire meets the other end of the loop.
Now attach either the eye of the Eye Pin, or the loop you’ve created to the Jump Ring that you’ve attached to the bar section of the clasp.
Make another bead link, also with three Swarovski Crystal Cream Pearls and an Eye Pin, then attach this bead link to the first bead link you’ve created.
Now we’re going to create another bead link. First, slide one of the 6mm Chrysoprase Round Glass Beads (265096) onto one of the Eye Pins, followed by an Antique Silver Small Turkish Heishi Spacer (T-SA-0425), and then one of the Majestic Crystal 4X6mm 32-Facet Crystal Beads (253305), and then create a Simple Loop.
Attach the loop you’ve just created to the last bead link attached to the necklace.
Now we’re going to create two more bead links, each consisting of three Swarovski Crystal Pearls and an Eye Pin. After these bead links are created, attach one to the last link you’ve added to the necklace, and then attach the other, keeping the chain going.
For the next bead link, slide one of the Antique Silver 7mm Lily Bead Caps (T-SA-5504) onto an Eye Pin convex side first, then add one of the 8mm Peridot Faceted Round Crystal Beads (253082), followed by another of the Bead Caps. Make sure the second bead cap is slid onto the Eye Pin convex side first, so that both bead caps ‘hug’ the 8mm Majestic Crystal. Create the simple loop, and add this bead link to the necklace.
Now we’ll create another bead link. For this one, slide one of the Chrysoprase Round Glass Beads onto the Eye Pin, followed by one of the Heishi Spacers, then a Majestic Crystal Peridot 4X6mm 32-facet Crystal Bead, and then another Heishi Spacer, followed by another of the Chrysoprase Round Glass Beads. Create your Simple Loop, and attach it to the necklace.
The next bead link will, again, consist of three Swarovski Cream Crystal Pearls. Slide them onto one of the Eye Pins, create the Simple Loop, and then attach this bead link to the necklace.
We will now create another bead link, this one consisting of two Bead Caps and one 8mm Majestic Crystal Peridot Faceted Round Bead -- exactly as was created in Step 10 . Create your simple loop and attach this to the necklace.
To create the next bead link, use two of the Chrysoprase Round Glass Beads, two Heishi Spacers and one of the 4x6mm Majestic Crystal Peridot 32-Facet Beads, and place the on the Eye Pin in the same order as you did in Step 11, and attach it to the necklace.
For the next link, simply slide the Antiqued Silver 17mm Peridot Rhinestone Butterfly Link (231212) onto an Eye Pin and create a Simple Loop. When you are attaching this bead link to the rest of the necklace, attach it via the bottom of the butterfly.
Create another bead link with an Eye Pin and three more Swarovski Cream Crystal Pearls, then attach this to the necklace.
Create another bead link exactly as you did in Step 10, with two Bead Caps and an 8mm Majestic Crystal Peridot Faceted Round Crystal Bead. Attach this bead link to the necklace.
Now we’re going to create two more bead links, each consisting of an Eye Pin and three Swarovski Cream Crystal Pearls. After these bead links have been created, attach them to the necklace.
The next link consists of an Eye Pin, a 4x6mm Peridot Majestic Crystal, and a 6mm Chrysoprase Round Bead, exactly as in Step 7. Attach this bead link to the necklace.
Now it’s just two more links, each consisting of an Eye Pin and three Swarovski Cream Crystal Pearls. Create these bead links, and attach them to the necklace.
Next take another of the Silver Plated 5mm Open Jump Rings, and attach this to the last loop or eye at the end of the necklace.
Then just attach this jump ring to the ‘loop’ section f the Antique Rhodium Butterfly Clasp Set, and your necklace is finished.
The only thing to do now is wear your Peridot & Pearls Butterfly Necklace, preferably with the matching earrings and bracelet, whenever you’re hit with a bout of spring fever, give it as a gift, or display it with other jewelry you have for sale.
