Home Up Back NextChoosing the Right Crimp BeadThe best determination of which crimp to use is based on the diameter of the material you are stringing with. You want to use a crimp that the stringing material fits through twice, with a minimum of room remaining. 2mm crimps fit nicely with most diameters of stringing material. If you are using a heavy dimaeter stringing material, a 3mm crimp would be a good choice. A longer crimp bead would give more support to finished projects that contain heavier beads. A shorter one is acceptable to use for lightweight projects. The object is to obtain a secure hold on your stringing material so there is no "slippage" of your wire through the crimp.
